- What
does the Museum provide? If your party is in the Teresalee
Bertinuson Visitors Center, we have three to four picnic-type tables
that are set apart, yet within the large open area. We do cover the
tables and have the necessary trash receptacles available to you.
- What
age groups would be accommodated? If your children like trains, they
will love us. We have had parties for 2 year olds, for 90 year olds and
everyone between.
- If
we have the space for two hours do we have to leave when that time is
over? Absolutely not. You are free to stay as long as you please.
However, you will have to vacate the "birthday area" as we may have other
parties scheduled for that day. You are free to roam and ride the
trolleys until closing time. Plan on making a full day of it at the Museum.
- Do
we bring our own food and party favors or do you supply those? You
may bring everything that you will need into the Museum. We do not
require you to purchase anything additional. We may hang a few balloons,
if we have them, but you can supply everything including caterers
if you so desire. The reserved space is yours.
- Can we
set up games for the youngsters? Well... yes, to the extent that you
understand that there will be other visitors to the Museum and their and
your children's safety is of the utmost importance to us. For instance;
Piņatas
cannot be allowed and running/hiding games would extend beyond the
confines of the party area and endanger those visiting and
participating.
- What
is the difference between the "Mobile Trolley Party" and that in the
Visitors Center? Well other than the obvious; one is static and the
other dynamic :-), the exclusive Birthday Trolley gets underway when all
the celebrators are onboard. We motor down the mainline for two complete
trips (roughly 6 miles total) while you eat, drink and make merry! Your
trolley car will then be placed on a siding, near to the Visitor Center
so that you may complete the Birthday Celebrations in private (reserved
time permitting). Those choosing the VC Party area have a semi-secluded
but generally open area to hold their celebrations. At the end of the
two hours and cleanup everyone will have the opportunity to continue to
ride our other trolley cars or wander about the Museum Campus to peruse
all of it's historical artifacts. You become part of the visiting
population and enjoy all that we have to offer.
- Do
you impose any special restrictions? We only ask that you consider
that almost everything around you is very old, if not antique. Although
the delicate artifacts are behind glass, the idea is that you should
respect your location as you would your own home. Trolleys are tough,
magnificant beasts but they are from a yesteryear that will never return.
Repairs are expensive and some things irreplaceable. However, any
normal group of excitable, boisterous youngsters will have the time of
their young lives if common sense rules the day.
