MAY 9th - A fun, drizzly Friday for these Dudes & Dudettes from

The Broad Brook Elementary School with their teachers;

Ms Lands and Ms Matroni

A rainy Friday well spent - and away we go...

These dudes seem to like the same table - at the same time - guys there are others...

Could the lunch bell have rung?

We did fit everyone into the photograph - didn't we...?

Looks like a tough crowd to please but we can make out a few smiles

WOW - can we take this to school for show-and-tell next week?

We hope that you all had a great time...come back and see us again

Right - it isn't a trolley - but a railfan is a railfan is a railfan - Right?

A.J.Gruhler sends this interesting shot along for our viewers - taken Apr. 06

The FL-9's are a vanishing breed. He spotted this one Sunday buried deep within the Croton-Harmon, N. Y. yard. He had to poke his lens through one of the links in the chain link fence to get the shot. You can click on the photo to view all of the details of the 10" x 14" version. - The photo is copyright protected to Mr. Gruhler

NEW FEATURE ARRIVING SOON

The Connecticut Trolley Museum has begun the difficult and time consuming process of digitally archiving its contingent of historical photographs. Our intent is to make these captured-moments-in-time available to the public in a variety of ways, including access to our Library, but more specifically by adding selected photos to our website rotogravure. We will announce the creation of a web-component when a significant quantity has been made available. Look for this NEW FEATURE in the coming months… we believe that you will enjoy this “Moments of History” collection.

CAR 36 - 1895 BRILL BUILT

Upon learning that Car 36 was to be restored by the CTM Crew,  Mr. Frank Pfuhler sent along these photographs of various later stages in her career

1942

August 1943

September 1944

At Wildwood New Jersey

October 1945

On the CTM Campus- August 16, 1952

Car 36 was built in1895 by Brill for the Lynchburg Traction & Light Company

located in Lynchburg, Virginia. It was subsequently sold to the Five Mile Beach Electric Railway in Wildwood, N.J. where it operated until 1952. After the closing

of service in Wildwood that year, the car came to the CT Trolley Museum in 1952. She is one of only a very small handful of this type of car left in the world.

More photos are available on the "Restoration Shop" page as she begins

her long journey back from impending oblivion. The restoration crews will be busy this year and we invite you to follow the refurbishment of this car and many other

irreplaceable traction vehcles as they begin to shine like new pennies.
